OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted."

I see you have joined your PIR group; I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Received the box today. My recruit -- and I apologize for my user name, he's not a sailor yet--left for GLNTC Tuesday, April 28th. And yes, his pant legs were still rolled up! It's really nice to read the posts here, solves some of the unknowns and also, connection with others is a good thing. Must've been brutal pre-electronic age. The waiting...

Lemon elephant. I made the changes when I first joined Navy for Moms. I think I'm good. Fake zip code and all. Do you see a problem with my account?

By counting 9 Fridays, PIR is most likely 06/26/2015, but it could be the week before, 06/19/2015, if he is placed in a division from the TG from the week before. You will just have to wait on The Form Letter to know for sure. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

04/27/2015 is coming soon. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.
