Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

You may want to join Norfolk Sailors - Family & Friends and CARRIER Families!. Check out http://wavy.com/category/news/military/ for news from the Norfolk area.

Which vessel is he on? There may be a group for that as well.

Click on OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and the Page will open in a new window. Read the Page and follow the directions at the bottom to make change 3 (see the words in bold) to change "Anyone" to "Members" so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. Don’t forget to click the “Save” button at the bottom.

Since you have a Sailor, you can change "Thinking about joining" above to "Enlisted."

If you get an error message, then look at the area/s in the error message and unclick all of the choices in the area/s and make choices closer to the question/s. Some choices may have changed since you joined.

There may be other changes you need to make as wellso read and consider each of the changes.

Hi Olga, I heard from my son on Saturday 7 Feb just prior to his letter the following Thursday.  He sounded great; liked he LOVED it there.  He said he had gotten sick from the shots (probably the flu) they gave but fought through it because he didn't want to be set back a week.  No call this weekend but didn't really expect one as they only get a few while in BC.  The following facebook page has pics of the recruits and my son was in two; maybe yours is in them as well.  https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand
