OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Pamelad - Since you were having difficulty reading on the BC Mom page, I wanted to put this link here for you. It has some helpful information that one of our "veteran" moms recently finished posting based on information we have been gleaning from our "Covid" moms. I hope it will be helpful!!

First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

Just click on the blue letters, if you are not familiar with this format.

pamelad - First of all Navy Mom Hugs!! Welcome to the BC Mom group - I haven't checked the main page yet, but I saw you also posted in the Main Room chat. Be sure to tell your son to call from the airport when they land before he gets on the bus - it will be your last call until you should receive the "I'm here" scripted call which may come very late.

If you will post over in the main page of the BC Mom group, scroll down towards the bottom and look for the comment wall - you should have a few responses. We all volunteer our time on here, so sometimes it just depends on who is available, but we have lots of information on the page as well.

If your sailor is still able to call and leave a voice message for you to listen to when you need to hear his voice, have him do so - in return write a short note and have him stick it in his wallet or small Bible.

Welcome to NAVYforMoms.com!

Head to “Settings” on the main page right away to add a profile image (no last names visible, please) and complete your Profile. Then - and this is important! - read these Community Guidelines and this Operations Security (OPSEC) Checklist, for the safety and privacy of all our Sailors.

Then jump right in!  Browse around the site and check out the groups and the information in their Discussion Forums.

Join this group for boot camp moms, where you'll also find a group for your Pass in Review (graduation) date; and this one for PIR Reference Information.

Get a head start during boot camp by joining groups for, and learning about, your Sailor's occupational specialty and "A" School; and later your Sailor's duty station and/or Navy ship and homeport. You can also join groups for your own state, region or home town and interests from getting ready for deployment to care package ideas!

Please say Hi when you join a group, and feel free to ask any and all questions - everyone was new once, and there is no "dumb" question.

This site was created by the U.S. Navy just for you, and we look forward to getting to know you and your Sailor.

Welcome to the NAVY family - we're so glad you're here!!
