Profile Information

A little about me:
I am the mother of 4, my only daughter just joined the Navy. I could not be more proud, she is a fine young lady. My oldest son is working and taking some online classes at the local college the other 2 are Sr and Jr in HS.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
I learned to be pacient, they don't always tell you what to expect or when, I never knew when my daughter had to go to the office or when she was leaving. The most helpful information I received right after she was sworn in, we were given a briefing by a fine officer. He explained that boot camp would not consist of running in the snow, as I had imagined:) They have indoor running tracks, gyms etc. I also learn the meaning of "brain washing" How they change the recruits way of thinking from individual to team member.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

It sounds like your daughter is doing well in bootcamp. It's such a relief to know that they are making friends and are happy with their decision to join. Try to get to the Meet & Greet. We got caught in Chicago traffic (right before Thanksgiving) and missed it and I was so disappointed. Enjoy PIR and take lots of pictures. That long awaited hug is just a few weeks away now.

It's amazing when you see your little girl all grown up and confident in her dress blues. Bittersweet! My daughter said the Navy is the best decision she's ever made.

valensmom,

Saw your recent post in the I know nothing discussion.  I am so glad your daughter is doing well in bc.  I hope the time is going quickly for you as well.  Looks like another month and a week or so until she graduates!!!  Where will she go for A school?

We took some at PIR - lots at restaurants and in Chicago. I'll post some this week. PIR is amazing and when you finally see your daughter in her uniform after all those weeks, it's all worthwhile. Definitely something to look forward to.

My daughter just graduated from bootcamp on 11/24 so I'm not too far ahead of you. I remember how hard those first few weeks of bootcamp were with no communication. Once you get her graduation date, join her PIR group and bond with the other moms. It's a great source of strength and communication. Hang in there!!
