OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

HI, I saw your post in chat about hotels. I stayed at Holiday Express Inn, in Libertyville, it’s a very nice hotel and nice people work there, and also if it’s for graduation they give grad. Rates and a free shuttle ride to graduation. The drive was maybe 5 miles to base and Libertyville is a real nice area.

It's not a good idea to post a pic of your Sailor every time you post. See change 4 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile picture.

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with your Sailor.

What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty) and/or where is he stationed (what vessel, if one)? There may be groups I can direct you to.

I see you are getting adjusted. Please join the New Moms Stop Here group. You'll feel right at home once you meet other new members. You don't need to have friends to get information from this site. Just relax. I have been "mentoring" many new members and above a certain number, I won't be effective; therefore, I am “graduating” a few of you who appear to be well-adjusted and have learned the ropes. In the Forum, on “How to Do Stuff On N4M” I have posted a number of topics which will help you navigate this site. I am not far away. If you need me, you’ll find me on a daily basis in the SF Bay Area Navy Families group (click on link). That is my “home” group where I am the creator/admin. Best of luck to you and your sailor. Regards, BunkerBee.

By the way, you still have Gloria and Kayleigh as Friends. Please remove by clicking on their photos and click "Remove" - these two are bogus profiles - harvesting for email addresses. I bet you have had more spam lately.
