For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor,NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

All Hands Magazine's full length documentary "Making a Sailor": This video follows four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.

She didn't say the airlines, but did say they were connecting through Atlanta. She is "MommyHunt" on the 9/17 site. You can join that site, comment on her page for more info (you can "leave group" when you are done if you wish). If you can experience the airport with him, I would do it. I missed that with mine and regret it...some wonderful stories of seeing these sailors in uniform out there...and how warmly they are greeted by the civilians there. Everyone who has done it wouldn't trade it for anything! So think about it!
Hey! I got some info for you on the Pensacola group, at least....last week's. That Pensacola group left for the airport at about 3 a.m. on Tues....flights left later in the morning from OHare. MommyHunt on PIR 9/17 posted this when I asked a mom on there. So chances are, it will be the same for your son....you all can go out to the airport EARLY on Tues morning and wait with him. Hope this helps a bit.
