For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

So, this post might be a little boring...but I am posting so other newbies know what to expect.
We've been able to talk to our son several times...still has a cellphone. Last night "they" took the SR's at the hotel to dinner and then had a meeting at 10 pm to discuss what will happen today. 4:30 this morning they took him and the others back to MEPS. I took the day off...we went to IHOP for breakfast then ran some errands. He came home and rested, cleaned his room (YAY), and played video games for about an hour. The plan was for the recruiter to pick him up at 2 pm. So, I was doing whatever I could to keep my mind off of it. My son was pursuing a career with the Coast Guard...but things were moving very slowly and one day last summer a Navy recruiter called him. My son told him he wasn't interested, but the recruiter asked to speak with a parent. (Smart guy, right?) After speaking with the recruiter...I suggested that we at least meet with him.
