The Occupational Therapist came again today and took Yvonne upstairs again. This time into our bedroom and had her get into bed. She's very encouraging and says Yvonne should be able to sleep upstairs soon. Working toward that!! The other day she had Yvonne standing by the washing machine doing laundry. More and more PT and OT is focused on getting her out of the wheelchair and standing with the walker. Praise the Lord! Starting yesterday she wears a bone growth stimulator 2 hours a…

God is good! I am so thankful for what He has been doing in Yvonne's recovery. Unfortunately, last night Yvonne was really sick! I mean throwing up sick. It was a hard night. I slept downstairs on a makeshift mat to be there for her fast if needed. She is resting comfortably today. She's totally wiped out but feeling better! We do appreciate all of your prayers and ask you to continue praying for us. Thanks!

Wow! What a day today was! The Nurse came today at 8:00 to change Yvonne's bandage. 10:00 was the Home Health Aid came for a bath. In between I put the Tub transfer bench together. Then 11:00 the Occupational Therapist came and put Yvonne through the wringer! She transferred her for the first time to the stair lift. So Yvonne went upstairs. They practiced going from the stair lift, to the walker, and then to the transfer bench in the tub (pictures included). Then she rode the stair…

I am amazed at what the Sentara Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists have accomplished with Yvonne in just two weeks. Today the Occupational Therapist was here and had Yvonne transitioning from bed to wheelchair to commode and back using her walker. It was significant progress again today. Thank you Jesus! I can't say it enough, God is answering our prayers abundantly! Afterwards we went out and sat on the patio for a while. Tomorrow we go and see Dr. Shuff the surgeon for…

Wanted to post an update on Yvonne's recovery before I head upstairs to bed for the night. Today was another very good day for her! The Lord continues to bless. I know He is hearing and answering your prayers. Thank you so much for your faithful support!!! Yvonne was relatively pain free today. The Physical Therapist came and had her do several standing exercises. The therapist was very pleasantly surprised at what she was able to do! The Sentara Home Health Care therapists are MUCH…

Today was a GREAT day! Yvonne's pain seems to now be controlled well. Our AC and Heating unit quit working yesterday. We called a repair company and their technician came out two hours BEFORE our appointed time Yea! After troubleshooting our system he initially said it was our ductwork and the repair would cost us between $5000 - $8000. I begged God to have mercy on us and change that somehow. A few minutes later the technician said he was wrong, and that the problem was a bad switch…

It looks like we've got the leg seizing under control now with a second dose of Gabapentin at night. Her feet and legs are swollen and causing her some concern. Tonight we put the compression stockings she brought home from the hospital on her legs to try to help that. The weather was so beautiful that I took Yvonne out onto the patio in the back where she sat in the sun in her wheelchair for a couple of hours. She really enjoyed that! I cleaned up the flower beds around the patio. We…

I know it's been several days since I posted an update on Yvonne. Sorry. She has been home from the rehab center for a week tomorrow. It's great having her home! Sarah and Jacob have been staying here with us too. They have really helped Yvonne's spirit and blessed her heart! Yvonne is up and active quite a lot each day. However with that there is a price to pay. She has been experiencing increased pain at times. Especially at night when her back and legs "seize up". We called the…
