Overall today has been a very good day for Yvonne! She had a couple of new physical therapists working with her. They took her to the gym and had her walking with the walker, stepping up and down a 6 inch step repeatedly. Some isometric exercises with a rubber stretch band. The issues with her meds have seemed to be rectified at the moment. Unfortunately, they left her sitting in a wheelchair after her PT session for an hour and a half; and in spite of the pain med she got, the pain…

Saw the surgeon yesterday. He ordered a wound vac for the opening in her incision. He painted a pretty bleak picture of what "could" happen. I was pretty overwhelmed! He also added Ensure nutritional supplement to her diet. He added an oral antibiotic to guard against infection setting in. And she is to continue PT. Please pray for her. I believe God has her in His hands! But honestly, it seems like there is anew crises every day. God seems to resolve them, but still, it is pretty…

Today has been a very good day for Yvonne...and for me. She was happy and feeling good when I called her in the morning. Talked with the doctor and I think we got some issues with her pain meds resolved (I hope)! Her PT session was very good. She walked down the hall and all the way around the nurses' station and back to her room. God is good and loving and kind! He is hearing and answering prayer and I am so very grateful to Him! They did administer another covid test this morning.…

The rehab center moved her out of the isolation ward after 10 days as promised Friday afternoon. The new room isn't much different than the other one. But it is on the other side of the curtain! Please pray for the nurses and staff at the rehab center. I've mentioned it before about her personal care concerns. They also still seem to be struggling with knowing how much medicine for pain to give her without overmedicating her. Please also pray for Yvonne in her spirit. She is struggling…

Greetings Everyone. I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience that I have. My son is 5 weeks into bootcamp. He has had two phone calls home. However, he can only get through on my phone. When he tried to call his dad and sister the phone will ring and then there isn't anyone on the line. Very frustrating!!! Thanks for any input!!!!

When Yvonne came out of the hospital she tested positive for Covid so at the Rehab center they have had her in the covid isolation section. They told us it would be 10 days and she would move into the regular unit. Tomorrow is 10 days and she is so looking forward to moving! She is totally asymptomatic. But I just talked with a person who said it may be the 8th (14 days). I'm not sure if that's for sure or not, but if it is she will be so disappointed. I asked everyone to pray that it…

Just thought I would share a picture that I took after I got to Yvonne's room and got all of the stuff up that I brought. Her nurse this morning volunteered to help me carry the stuff into her room and then started singing happy birthday to her. I do believe it made her feel good! The metallic balloons were my original idea. She had asked me to buy her a new toothbrush and I was going to get her a box of Kleenex. So, I put them in a gift bag with some colorful tissue paper and gave…

Please pray for Yvonne. She had a really good day today. She didn't have hardly any pain. Then physical therapy came and got her up and worked her pretty good! She got pale so they checked her blood pressure. It dropped a lot. And now she can hardly stay awake. The nurse came in when I called her, and said she could tell she was fine. She also said that I was probably worrying Yvonne. So please pray for me too! The physical therapists did say her BP should not drop like that. Anyway,…

Please continue to pray for Yvonne. She walked down to the end of the hall this afternoon for physical therapy. There are a number of frustrating issues that we are not happy with concerning the personal care she is getting at Bayside. I hope we can get them resolved. Please pray for us. Pray for strength for Yvonne to improve. Anyway, I've got to go get some sleep. Thank you for your prayers.

I am so sorry that I have not updated this blog for you all. I've been trying to update everyone who has been praying for her, but I just completely forgot you guys. I am so sorry!!! Thank you for your prayers.
Yvonne had her surgery on the 18th. It was supposed to be an 8 hour surgery but turned out to be almost 13 hours! It actually took her until the afternoon of the 20th before she was awake enough from the anesthesia to understand that she had the surgery and that she was not in…

How and when do you find out if your son/daughter passed all the tests required to graduate? My son has been there since Nov. 8th. I have only received 2 phone calls the whole time and now I'm just stuck between making reservations and trying to get people lined up to work for me but at the same time not knowing if he passed.. Is it normal to not hear from them and I make the reservations anyway?

I just received the form letter and it has ship 14 div 087 but says USS Arizona on it. That ship was sunk at Pearl Harbor so I assume they have built a new USS Arizona? Anyone know this for sure or did my son write the incorrect ship name?

Good morning! Just thought I would update everyone who's praying what happened at our doctor visit yesterday. We went to the orthopedic surgeon who said said it would be fusion from T12 to S1 with rods and screws. Then he proceeded to tell us everything that could possibly go wrong and scared us to death! And then told us to go home and talk about it some more and call him in a couple of days. During the visit he did tell us he was a Christian. He even referred to the story in the…

Hello...anyone...
I'm looking for more information on class/school processes. I've read the information on this site and it's been great, but I'm stuck after BESS. My Son completed BESS and is doing TCNO but won't share any info... he keeps reminding me he signed a NDR. I can't get an address to send him anything and I know he is going to be in CT for another 14-28 weeks. I went to visit him in August (the week of his 21st birthday) and spent a day with him, shopping and eating. I was…

We are planning our travel to be present at PIR next month. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best places to stay nearby? Any insight from those who have experience is greatly appreciated!

Son just finished School and got assigned to a boat. Was told they will be given leave time later this year when they return from an assignment - but won't know specific dates for leave until they return, so would probably be buying plane tickets to come home 2-3 weeks before the actual flight. Roundtrip plane tickets to fly cross country are expensive any what but even more so when bought within a few days of departure date. So, are sailors just out of luck and need to purchase high…
