Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

The Box 2013

On July 1, 2013 our daughter left for Milwaukee with her friend Bri. Yep, h.s. buds joined the Navy together and actually got the same bc date!

We met at the local recruiting office.  There were friends & family.  Recruiter POP arrived and we all started talking & laughing - trying not to cry.  We took pictures and met Bri's family.  So…

THE CALL

You know, for a being a scripted phone call, that was the best call in the world!  While she was talking (and I could hear others in the background saying the same thing) I'm like "Keep talking.  I love you I love you I love you I love you..." til she said "Got to go!"

I feel so blessed that she texted me a…

07/02/13 BC!!

Our daughter's big day is here!  Texted back & forth last night...she was exhausted but happy.  One of her comments was "& i met new people"  Well I should HOPE so.  We didn't raise no wallflower!  Should have asked her some names but wasn't thinking beyond reading her texts and responding. Her "roommate" mentioned did that she was fat & jolly!  So glad for humor and good people. …

5 DAYS

When our daughter started this whole adventure I had dreams of documenting every step, every event.  Of posting triumphs and disappointments.  Then reality. I haven't blogged for about a year, I haven't kept in touch with the women/moms I had met through this site.  And I'm sorry about that.

In 5 days she heads to the MEPS holding tank and the next day she'll be at basic.

I'm thankful this time is finally here. There have been so many milestones and "lasts".  Last Bluesfest…

May 19, 2012

What a crazy day ahead!  So many weekends with not much to do (except of course housework) and now BAM!  Scramble time!  An auction (hopefully that 8-foot enclosed trailer will be ours!), moving a friend, 2 benefit events, city-wide garage sale, bonfire...and housework.  :)

Our daughter went to prom 2 weeks ago, and I did not recognize the young woman coming down the stairs.  I truly a got an eye-full of what the days ahead will bring.  One of them being that a wonderful adult is just…

Good Friday 2012

Sohere we are.

Aside from the email from the recruiter, that didn't answer a lot of our questions, we haven't heard back.  Cat even left 2 voice mails on his cell phone in the past 2 weeks.  I'm giving him some grace though, as I'm sure he's busy with the up-coming graduations, Easter weekend, and his own family.  But it's HARD not to be anxious.  Thank you God for hearing my prayers and taking the edge off.  I do NOT want to be a "pesky parent" or banshee...but the twinges of …

Upon completion of meps and swearing into the navy then you are required to attend the dep meetings once a month. You can attend them as a guest anytime. You don't leave for basic training until after graduation from…
