Quote from my Sailor

Probably no PIR trip.

At this point I don't know if I'll be able to afford a trip out to Great Lakes for PIR.  It kills me inside but the money just isn't there.  I've prayed and asked God that if I'm supposed to be there to make a way.  I talked to my son about it before he left and he said he'd understand if I couldn't make the trip but I still feel like I'd be letting him down.  Right now reading all the comments and posts it seems like everyone is headed out to PIR to see their sailor.  I just feel awful…

No Letter Yet!

Every afternoon I hurry home from work so I can check the mail.  Nothing yet.  I'm kind of bummed.

I write Mal about every other day.  I bought a roll of stamps last week and I'm looking forward to using them all up.  I really just want a letter...a real one.

I'm surprised I lasted this long.

I don't know if it was because I took my youngest for a haircut today and thought about his big brother getting his head shaved or if it's because ...aww man I miss him and my emotions just got the better of me.  There I was locked in the bathroom blubbering.  I'm still waiting for ship and division information...well time to write another letter.

Got the Call

Well the call came in from him around 2230 EDT.  He sounded almost as if he was reading from a script.  Probably just nerves.  It was great to hear his voice and tell him I love him.  He says I should be getting another call in about 3 weeks.

Leaving today!

I made his favorite dinner for him last night.  He's said goodbye to his girlfriend.  My hubby is so proud he could just bust and I am too but....I'm going to miss him and I'll be counting the days until I can hug him again.

Proud Navy Mom

So let me start this by saying I don't think I'm really very superstitious.

At the Navy Exchange is a wonderfule Proud Navy Mom decal I've been eyeing for months now BUT I refuse to buy it Yet!  I actually feel like I might be jinxing my son if I buy it and actually put it on my car now.  So here's the plan.  When he leaves for boot camp I'll purchase the decal.  When he calls after Battle 21 I'll put it on the car!  Anyone else got their Proud Navy Mom decals yet?

Counting Down

Just posted the party for my son on Facebook.  Nothing fancy just friends and family over to have pizza and munchies.

Besides the party he's getting his leopard gecko ready for his new home with my niece and packing his stuff away.  Yes we're turning his bedroom into a playroom for his little brother.  The bed and dresser will remain though for visits home.  I'll bet the weeks are going to fly by between now and 3/29.
