54 days since leaving for Boot Camp

Today has been my best day ever... since my SR left for boot camp... I finally saw a picture of him on Facebook... and tonight he and his division are getting ready for Battle Stations... I'll be on the road tomorrow getting ready for my flight out on Thursday and hopefully while driving... I'll receive... I'm a SAILOR call... the picture alone was very emotional... can't wait for tomorrow... and really can't wait for Friday...

51 days since leaving for Boot Camp

I can't believe how quickly boot camp has flown by... my SR may not say the same... this site was very helpful especially in the beginning when I felt like I was swimming at night in a dark pond... the boot camp videos, explanation of "the box" and the support on the PIR date so we could plan ahead was all very helpful... the dreaded "box" actually became exciting thanks to this site... I've met some great moms and dads on this site... I even met a Navy Mom on Facebook whose son had recently…

Day 40 since leaving for Boot Camp

Drum roll please... I finally received my first letter from my son... it was one heck of a letter... very raw... very vintage... very direct and to the point... sounds like he is also achieving some personal goals... and unfortunately was sick once as many in his division have been sick... despite all of that... he does sound like he is getting the BEST out of boot camp... just strongly dislikes the morning "wake up" call...

Day 33 since leaving for Boot Camp

Ever since I received my call last week... I'm not worried nearly as much... still wish he'd write... just like to know how the weekly events are going... can't believe he is more than half way through Boot Camp... Going to buy my dress this week for his graduation... I'm a proud mom!

Day 24 since leaving for Boot Camp

I'm getting kinda of depressed and a little sad that I have not received a letter since my son left for boot camp... Just selfishly wanting to know how he is doing and interested in his thoughts about boot camp.  :(

Day 22 since leaving for Boot Camp

I'm getting anxious now to receive my first written letter from my son.  I'm very anxious to hear about boot camp from his perspective.  I'm also very excited going into week 3 how time is just flying by... I'm only hoping he feels the same way...

Day 19 since leaving for Boot Camp

I'm missing my son more and more but I know we're into the 3rd week... I actually think this week, he'll receive my letter... I hope... Is it my understanding after the 3rd week... there may be a short phone call received... I was relieved yesterday knowing it was Sunday and hoping he attended church... it is also my understanding that by week 3... they are more use to their new routine..  Let's hope!!!!

Day 13 since leaving for Boot Camp

I FINALLY received my PIR FORM letter today... and to my shock due to the delay... his PIR date is 4/27/12... He is Ship II DIV 134... he left for bc on 2/29/12...  Although my son did not leave me a small note... he did write a giant goofy smiley face on the back... that is "so" my son's personality...  I'm very HAPPY today!!!!!

Day 11 since leaving for Boot Camp

I'm starting to genuinely miss my son now... not having the ability to call and speak with him is killing me... I know he is ok and I know he is safe and I'm no longer worried about him... other than worrying about an injury... I want more than anything the ability to send him a letter of encouragement... with a book of stamps and a phone card... I'm hoping tomorrow his PIR letter arrives...

Day 8 since leaving for Boot Camp

20 years ago today I gave birth to my son... strange I'm not able to wish him a Happy Birthday!!!! Thought about him all day and I hope it was a good day for him... but for some reason I think he spent today running and getting screamed at... I'm still waiting for my PIR letter...

Day 6 since leaving for Boot Camp

Very late today the "dreaded box" finally arrived and it had a little surprise inside... Matt left the Navy camo bible inside and chose to keep the one I bought him special for boot camp..  Made me very excited... I didn't get emotional... thanks to all the MOMS on this site who prepared me for it...

Day 5 since Leaving for Boot Camp

Today I was hoping the "dreaded box" was going to arrive.  I waited all day and it did not.  I guess it'll be tomorrow.  What is funny... it no longer feels like a "dreaded box"... thanks to this site and other mothers that have shared their experience receiving "the box"... I am actually looking forward to it...

Day 4 since Leaving for Boot Camp

Dropped my son off in Miami on 2/28.  I could tell he was ready.  Dropped my IPhone in the toilet on 2/29 waiting all day for his 15 second call announcing his arrival in Great Lakes... 1 borrowed phone later I received the call at 2:30 a.m.  It was very robotic and just freaked me out.. I realized I was not ready... On March 1st, I came to N4M's web site and really explored it... Found all the info on the Navy Moms Newbies... and read all information and viewed all videos... what a…
