20 years ago today I gave birth to my son... strange I'm not able to wish him a Happy Birthday!!!! Thought about him all day and I hope it was a good day for him... but for some reason I think he spent today running and getting screamed at... I'm still waiting for my PIR letter...

Thursday was day 8 for us too! And, we are still waiting for that letter as well! I am hoping today will be the day. I've read that it's usually 3 days after receiving "the box." When did you get the box? I will be doing the same thing as you at the end of April. My son's 19th birthday will be on 04/29. I was really hoping that his PIR would be that weekend, but we'll see.

My sailor graduated from the Great Lakes back in October - FABULOUS ceremony DON'T MISS IT!

It was several weeks before I got my first letter but then they seemed to come quicker. You'll find the Navy sends out the mail when they feel like it! :( But when you get that first one - I'm sure you'll mimic me - I jumped around and danced AT the mailbox on the street. Once I managed to get back in the house with it I was crying so hard I couldn't read it! I smelled it and touched it for at least an hour - you would have thought it was in brail!

"The Box" - oh that box. When that box came, I dropped to my knees and cried AGAIN! I'm not gonna lie, removing their things rips your heart right out of your chest! I smelled my sons scent from his shirt for a week until it wasn't there anymore.

Good luck!

Today is Day 11... still no PIR letter... My now 20 year old son left for BC on 2/29... I'm optimistic the PIR letter will arrive tomorrow... I just can't wait for the opportunity to start sending letters of encouragement... @CodysMom... sounds like our sons left for BC on the same day... maybe they're together... :)... thanks everyone...
