Thoughts and prayers to the families of the marines that were killed today and the injured sailor and police officer. So needless. This hits closer to my heart now than ever.

Excuse me CryptoDad, but you don't know me so don't judge me. I have all the faith in the world in my son. I don't, however, have the extra funds needed to buy a refundable ticket. I already have hotel reservations. As a nurse, I have to plan ahead and schedule to be off. Everything that I have read says that it is advisable to get refundable tickets as the date may change. Maybe you would like to fund my ticket? Continue

I received the "form" letter and it has a PIR date of August 21. Does anyone know if this is likely to change? What are the odds? Needing to make travel plans. Thanks

Sad day

today was a sad day for me. I took my son to the recruiting office where he signed more papers. He flies out tomorrow for boot camp. I am so proud of him but it is still very hard.

Car

my son leaves for boot camp on May 12. I have lots of questions.
1. Approx when will graduation be and is it on the weekend?
2. When will he be allowed to have a car? ( he goes to charleston,sc after boot camp to nuc school)
3. When are they allowed to come home the first time?

Medical waiver

My son is waiting for a medical waiver for his eyesight. He passed everything else in METS. His recruiter tells him that they really want him in the nuclear engineering and that he will get a waiver. Any thoughts?
