WOW!! What a beautiful thing to behold! You can read posts and watch video after video but you have to EXPERIENCE to understand just how fabulous it is.
After driving 13 hours to Chicago we were needless to say exhausted. We had reservations at the Navy Lodge and just on a hunch inquired see when we could check in ( it was about 0730) they were nice enough to find us a room so we could rest awhile. We then rode around and explored the area. We must have drove past the front gate like 20 times just hoping to get a glimpse of her, to no avail. We drove out to Lake Michigan, which is just a mile or so from base and it was BEAUTIFUL!!
As some of you already know we were sent a letter telling us that Courtney was going to graduate with an Honor. We assumed that was exactly what it was" Honors", which we were tickled pink about. SO proud!!
Well we were up bright and early Friday am tried getting into base about 0530. they turned us away and said go get some breakfast and come back arounf 0600. so we drove less than 1 mile away got some coffee and a biscuit and returned to a long line of cars!! Oh well... we got in line and worried we would not make it thru inspections to check in by 0715 ( the time to be checked in for honor grads). Well when the line started moving IT MOVED!! we breezed thur the check in process ( no out of the car inspections) went inside and were ushered upstairs to a waiting area. We signed in and were given name tags and a copy of the base paper..... glad I went and sat down before opening it... When we opened and looked for her name I didn't see it.... ?!?!? Then I looked at the pictures of the 6 Award winners.... and started to cry like nobody's business. ( ask Beth T...she witnessed the aftermath :) ) WOW and Award winner!! We were floored!!

Well after being taken int the hall. we sat and watched to videos and just took in everyone and the sailors standng by the markers. Then it started to happen... The band, the flag corp, the parade of state flags, THEN THE DOORS OPENED UP and the tears started to flow. unashamed and proud to cry for my little girl that was now a US SAILOR!!

The rest was kinda of a blur.. just anxious to get to hold her. And when that time finally came it was like time ceased to matter. She was in my arms!! for real!! Then I had to share her with Daddy :)

After all these weeks all I could do was look at her and hold her. Then I got PDA lecture. what a stupid thing to try to get moms and dads not to publically display their pride and love.
We got to met her at the airport for a few hours together before she got on the plane to MS which was wonderful but sad too. I miss her so much!! Although she does have her phone now and I have spoken with her everyday since it's just nt the same. My husband keeps telling me she is an adult now and I have to let go a little... Well maybe i will.. just a little.

She has turned into a beautiful strong woman and we are so fortunated to have raised her and shared our time with her and look forward to seeing her grow.
