I finally received my son's Form Letter today. "The box" arrived Jan 22nd. Aside from his scripted phone call (Jan 15th) letting me know he arrived safely, I still have not heard his voice or received personal letter. So receiving his Form Letter was the best next thing to being National Chocolate Day! :-) My youngest daughter was so excited the letter came, she sat on the edge of my bed while I read it out loud, then proceeded to smell the inside of the envelope to see if she could get a whiff of her brother's scent. As weird and freakish as that may sound...as a mom who grew up as an only child, it was honestly the most priceless thing I could witness. In that brief moment, God reminded me to not get so caught up in my own grief over missing Jamal that I forget to help his 3 sisters deal with missing their brother, as well.
So, now I have his mailing address, his SHIP & DIV numbers, and the highly anticipated graduation date!!! I've already written his first letter and begun making reservations!
As a mom of four and grandma of three, I always thought I was pretty good with adjusting to almost any situation that came my way. Guess I was wrong! :-) The physical absence of my son has by far been one of the most difficult adjustments in my life. Ever. But I am in this with him 100%. I am...a proud NAVY mom.

Yes! Let me do that now. Geez...what would I do without you?! :-) Thank you so much!
You are very welcome.
Thanks, Coach! Yes, I will definitely stay connected. I honestly could not travel this path alone. I'm a firm believer that God places people in our lives for a specific reason...and season. I truly appreciate your prayers. Please keep me lifted and know I'm doing the same for you!
