If there's ever such a thing as a Navy mom hitting the ultimate lowest point emotionally while her son is going through boot camp...I hit that point today. My cell phone carrier was having major issues which resulted in my phone only being able to receive text messages. No incoming or outgoing phone calls! During the entire time my phone was down, I had a horrific feeling in my gut that my son would try to call. Low and behold...that's exactly what happened. I received a text message from his god-sister saying he had tried to reach me, but wanted myself and his sisters to know how much he loves us.

Totally devastated...

I know that feeling so well. I missed the first call that mine made too.  He left a message and at least I got to hear  a voice mail. But it wasn't like talking to him..but the following Sat. He called again. So then I was better. :)

I was randomly reading and i can't believe that same thing happened to me and my future sailor Sandy. I left my phone in the bedroom during dinner once in the last 2 months and of course i missed her call.

so sorry Murrraysmom----  I can totally feel your disappointment and sadness.... I hope you called your cell provider and vented with them.....

DylansGrammy - That's encouraging to know he called the following Saturday. I REALLY hope he's able to call back. I'm glad you have his voice mail. That's a gift in itself. Thanks so much for sharing.

Rahrishka - Oh, no! I'm so sorry. Hopefully there won't be too much time in between her next call. I have actually become obsessed with carrying my phone everywhere with me. Even when I take a shower, I place it on the sink and turn the volume on high so I can hear it ring. LOL!

doublegmom - Yes, I did vent! The rep was genuinely sorry, but there wasn't anything that could be done at that point. All I can do now is pray it never happens again...to anyone. It was the WORST feeling ever. Thanks so much for reaching out. Hope all is well with your Sailor.
