Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

The past 5 weeks have included a roller coaster of emotions for me, as my son left for Basic Training on June 28th. During this time, I have discovered a completely different outlook on the US military. However, it is worthy to note that I did not have a negative feeling about the military prior to my son joining... just a complete lack of experience with it at all.
I have since gained a whole new respect for our sailors and soldiers. I have found myself beaming with pride and tears rolling down my cheeks when I hear the national anthem and several other songs associated with our countries' armed forces.
I am so incredibly proud of my son and his choices regarding his life that words cannot begin to express. When I was his age, I was pregnant for him and barely able to make ends meet. He is setting himself up for such a wonderful future and it is truly unimaginable to watch transpire.
I am elated at the thought of seeing him in uniform during the graduation on August 24th. I think that I will probably go through an entire box of kleenex just walking from the shuttle bus to the graduation hall! I will try my best to refrain from calling him "Joshy" and/or "Bubby" in front of his friends but it could be worse... my sister calls him "Goose". I can imagine the torment that he would receive if she were able to attend and shout out... "Go GOOSE" during the ceremony. hehe..
With that being said, I want to further encourage him to stay strong, stay supportive, stay focused, and keep on shining!
