First weekend without my son - it was a tough one. Especially Sunday - our family is all part of a fantasy football league and Sunday's were busy and loud at our house as we all watched the games, to see how our teams did and how we all did against each other. It was so quiet at home this weekend. His brother and sister were gone this weekend so there was no one around to watch the games with me. Did some cleaning, some organizing - laundry - the usual.
Didn't get his box on Sat., or any form letter and of course today is a holiday, so no mail LOL - I guess there is always tomorrow! Maybe I'll get both! His recruiter also told me to call him today for my son's address and well I guess he probably forgot today was a holiday as well :)
Doing good - and realized today it's been a week which means only 7-8 weeks left depending on his PIR date. I can do that LOL
Have a great day all!
D
We just had my son's going away party on Sunday. We were watchin football (houston losing) the house was full, and I thought great next sunday it wont be the same. We do Fantasy Football with the neighborhood, my son did not join this year, I think was the first time it really hit me. Glad your doing good good, just think by the time the Super Bowl comes around they will be out of bootcamp.
We had my son's going away Sunday before yesterday. We had the games on all day too :) He is part of our league and wanted his brother to keep track, etc, but then he forgot to leave him the password LOL So his team suffered a crushing loss yesterday but he would have just laughed it off so we laughed for him :)
My son just arrived on October 6, 2011 at Great Lakes for boot camp too. It has been a really difficult adjustment here at home, we're like a car missing a tire. I spent Saturday cleaning his room, it was really really hard at first then I got into it. I feel your pain - and I mean that sincerely. My son and I are best buds and I miss him terribly. I'm always here if you ever want to chat. I haven't received a box yet either but I guess I wasn't expecting it just yet.
We cleaned his room together for the most part and that was actually really nice. Went through a bunch of clothes that he gave away to Good Will because he said "I'm planning on bulking up a bit, so these probably won't fit anymore" LOL Boxed up all his momento's - things to keep until he's stationed somewhere and things to send to him once he gets to A School. I did go in the the other night, and wander around - it was hard. Its funny but it really is a physical pain...a whole in my heart! My oldest son called me to tell me that the "box" came today. I've been waiting for it, and now that it's here, I don't want to open it because it will be the first physical confirmation that he is really in Great Lakes and not just away at summer camp! I'm here off and on all day as well...so same goes, if you ever need a shoulder!
