OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Where has time gone, I remember when you were small, The line you drew on the wall, every time to measure how tall. The running in the house, the hide and seek, I knew where you were, even when you would peek. I held you close when you were so cold, I offered my hand for you to always hold. I picked you up ever time you fell, Took care of all sickness to make you well. I rescued you when you felt any type of pain, Just to place you on the right path again and again. You have grown into a man choosing your own way, A journey that guides you making every new day. Surprising me by joining the Navy, signing what only you really know, Asking me to drive you to your recruit, and having letting you go. All the way you were saying, all will be fine, as if nothing was wrong, All the while me not seeing your words were only to make me strong. Not knowing day in or day out, where you will be, I know your eyes are wide open every challenge you see. My tears are not for all sadness, I am happy how you grew, My little boy, now a man…seems like only yesterday, who knew! My thoughts and strength I hope reaches you in your time of need, For when you left I was weak and you were my strength, you planted the seed. So now I send, that seed of strength, you gave to me every minute of every day, So that prayers will reach and guide you as you find your way. Growing into a man, as you no longer are standing by my side, For you chose a new journey, may your guardian angel be your guide. For now you have joined the United States Navy, under a new command, You have proven to be a True United States Sailor, United you now stand!

SO PROUD OF YOU MY SON, SO PROUD!
