I spoke with my Son Thursday Sept 06, just for a few minutes, the only words that I was able to say to Him was that I love him, it was really sad for me to know that I wouldn't be able to hear his voice until his graduation date 10/05, I dont know if Im going to be able to go, I will try my best.

Hang in there, things will get better.  I'm glad that you got the "I'm still alive!" call.  Sometime in his last week you will get the "I'm a Sailor!" call to let you know that he has made it.  It could come on any weekday (F, M-Th) beginning on the day of the previous week's PIR (09/28/2012) to the day before his PIR (10/04/2012).  Those calls begin 2ish pm and end 8ish pm Central Time.  Who knows, you may be blessed with a surprise call between now and then.  Know that "No news is good news!"  If something happens that would delay him or send him home, you will be called and that is not a call you want to receive.  Don't expect a call, but have your phone available every day between 8 am and 8 pm Central Time, and be pleasantly surprised if you receive a call.

I hope you are able to make it to PIR.  It will be a special day for you both.  You will be able to spend the rest of that day with him and then you can meet him at the airport the next day to give him his cell phone and other things he wants and spend time with him and then see him off to "A" School.

Hang in there!  Ours graduates 10/5 also. The first 5 weeks were tough for us but it is getting better now that we have heard from him.  What kind of training / job is your son in?
