My son’s wife has been debating on what to do about my sons A school. My son wants her to go stay where he is going to be so he can see her on weekends. His A school is only two months how much time will he even get to spend with her? Overnight visits? Weekend leave? Is it worth it? What are the general rules for A school in Mississippi regarding leave, what can they bring there and what can be shipped there?
if she has the money to go for only that short period of time. she should do it I sure wouldn't move there
this for after he gets done with A school >>>>>>>>.http://www.navyformoms.com/profiles/blogs/my-first-navy-pcs-dity-pp...
Like most A schools, he'll need to earn his liberty privileges. He can't stay offbase at first, and will only eventually earn weekend overnight privileges. Still, if he has duty, no going offbase.
She will get BAH, but finding a place which will rent for only two months could be hard. She may need to look at extended stay hotels.
The Navy won't move her down there, and when he does make the PCS move, the Navy will only move household goods from one location. It could be a hassle if they don't understand the rules beforehand.
(Leave is paid vacation days, permission given in writing. Liberty is normal time off such as evenings, weekends and federal holidays. Just so you know the difference).
"A" School for SH is actually only about 4 to 5 weeks long once he classes up. I'm not sure how long he will be in holding upon arrival in Meridian, but the hold times seem to be short for SH. He won't be able to leave base until the third week or so. As Anti M said, the Navy won't pay for the move. His wife should consider a visit once he phases up and has overnight Liberty. Let his wife know about the groups I have given you before and also Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors.
Perfect thank you.
I'm sure we're all glad we could help.
