My son called me from A school in San Antonio, and said he's going to be a MA Riverine. I've looked it up, and now I really scared about what he will do.. How often are they sent out...what do they do on a daily.. the one good thing he got orders in our hometown..

Orginally we were told my son's A school was 6 months. Now that he's at bootcamp he sent a letter saying its about 52 weeks. How long before will he find out his duty station orders? And how long will it take him to get to phase 2? Any other information about MA's A school would be great... I can forward the infor to him via mail, so at least he has a heads up. Not sure if its the same process as my older son went threw for his A school. Thanks in advance.

I’m looking at a few things to do during my son’s liberty. I have a few ideas Navy Pier, the Sears Towers or whatever they are called now and Miracle Mile. Does anyone have any suggestions about things to do during for liberty? I also want to factor in driving and traffic. Sould we drive or cab it or drive close to attractions and then cab it...? I’m hoping to have a plan so we aren’t like a bunch a deer in the head lights. What have been your experiences and suggestions? I'm trying to…

MEP’S San Diego…. For my son MEP’S was a little different than most people’s experience, because he was a delay ship (it was about 6 months from the day he visited the recruit), and he lives in the same city as MEP’S. My son’s MEP’s experience was stretched into two full days and one half day.
If you plan to join your son/daughter I would suggest you plan for an all day events. They will feed your recruit in the cafeteria area, but I would suggest you bring sandwiches, snacks and…

My son’s wife has been debating on what to do about my sons A school. My son wants her to go stay where he is going to be so he can see her on weekends. His A school is only two months how much time will he even get to spend with her? Overnight visits? Weekend leave? Is it worth it? What are the general rules for A school in Mississippi regarding leave, what can they bring there and what can be shipped there?

When do Sailors get their orders? Do they go straight from their A or C school to their duty station? Are they allowed any leave time to go home and get ready to be relocated? I am hoping that my son gets orders for San Diego or even LA. It’s a big military town so maybe, but I know it’s a long shot.

Making plans for graduation is very frustrating because of all the ifs and not knowing. Fortunately, my son has been able to call several times he said something about it being a reward. My son is going to be going to A school in Mississippi and from what I have read it says he will get liberty for that day proceeding graduation and ship in the AM because his A school is out of state. But, when he called he said to book the flights and rooms for 3 days, because he wasn’t sure if his…
