Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

PLANNING LIBERTY for 8/16/13
I’m looking at a few things to do during my son’s liberty. I have a few ideas Navy Pier, the Sears Towers or whatever they are called now and Miracle Mile. Does anyone have any suggestions about things to do during for liberty? I also want to factor in driving and traffic. Sould we drive or cab it or drive close to attractions and then cab it...? I’m hoping to have a plan so we aren’t like a bunch a deer in the head lights. What have been your experiences and suggestions? I'm trying to plan for a short day and long day because we aren't sure what time he will have to be back to base. Hopefully he doesn't have duty. We are staying at the Hilton in Mettawa, so I’m thinking after PIR we will go back to the hotel and eat at the restaurant then go from there.

You should also join the PIR group just for those with a PIR date of Aug 16. See what others are doing. You should attend a meet and greet or two. Here is the link to your PIR group.
