DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

So I'm not the most technically inclined... Who and how should I be adding as friends. My son arrived March 11th, as I wrote and I find myself loving this site but wanting to meet other moms in the same boat...no pun intended. Do I have to wait to get the letter and I know where he is or are there other suggestions. I'm craving and loving the advice and support so far and just want to get the most from this site. I haven't cried once today but I'm still going crazy not knowing anything! My from what I read today was the moment of truth day and I didn't get any calls so I guess that's good. It's sad because of part of me was secretly hoping I would and that is so selfish of me! He needs this

You can add people who you connect with in some way--newbies like you and maybe a few seasoned members--at any time on this journey. There are a few within DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in March who have recruits who arrived the same day.

To add a friend, go to the person's page (click on their picture) and then click "Add as Friend" under their picture.  Once they "Accept" you can PM each other.  Be sure to watch Friends in the upper right to see if you have any requests pending as well.

His time in BC is also a learning experience for you and things do get better.

Hi! My son left on the 11th as well. I know that you can call his recruiter and get the address. I have already sent one letter. I was not raised in a military invornment and am going crazy too. I to know this is the best for my son but still want to talk to him every day. I hope that we can get each other through this. My son is Oryan. We are from Seattle, WA. How about you?

We are from outside of Pittsburgh, PA.  This is torture.  When my daughter left for college I wasn't this distraught!!! I feel bad buggin ghis recruiter, but if it gets bad enough, I will.  I've been writing daily through.

Just a heads up I have been warned about what I write in the letters, because sometimes the letter will get read in front of others. Just a heads up.  The first two nights I would wake up dreaming about him being there and wanting to come home. I would wake up in tears and could not fall back to sleep for hours. Last night was my first night that I got a full 8 hours. Whats your sons name? I wonder if our boys are in the same division.

Remember if you do share names, please do it only in a PM and do NOT post it publicly. Letters do get passed around because recruits choose to do that since not everyone gets mail, but it is not common for the RDC to read a letter aloud unless there is something in it that draws attention to it.

proudmomma, You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. I suggest you start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile), Arrival and What Happens at the RTC, and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and then check out the others a few at a time.

proudmomma and Joelle415, although you can get the address from the recruiter, we strongly suggest that you not send letters until you receive the form letter. Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit will tell you more about that.
