Son in PIR 03/29/2013 Ship 03 Div 133

I'm sure in each PIR date there are sailors who will not be able to have a friend or family member there supporting them. How sad for the sailor as well as the family members and friends who would like to be there but can't. No sailor should be alone for PIR and the time following. I'm sure many of us who will be there would love to support these young people by "Adopting" them for the day (or even the weekend)! Lets Pay it Forward. Let your SR know you would be willing to adopt a fellow SR in their ship/division. They can pass that info on to those recruits in need and they can put us in touch with family members if they would like. Lets get this to go Viral!!

If you are able to do this, please do.  Remember to let the new Sailor borrow a cell phone to make calls to loved ones and if you have an extra laptop, allowing him/her to have some computer time would be nice as well.

Awhile back, one mom who was not able to attend PIR met another mom on N4M with a son in the same division as her son. She was able to send her son's cell phone and a few other things to the second mom ahead of PIR. The second mom was able to pass that on to him since the two Sailors were both staying at GL after PIR as well as adopting him for the weekend. It would be great if this can happen again.

Wow what a great idea- I will ask my son if anyone in his division 920 - PIR 3/29/13 will be alone for graduation. I had planned on taking my son his phone and laptop to him for the weekend.

What a great idea..I wish I had thought of it when my son was graduating back in September.  He told us at lunch, when it was too late, that there were some guys and/or girls whose families weren't there.  It was heartbreaking!!  I can't imagine not being able to be with my son that day but unfortunately sometimes things come up..sad for the sailor AND the family members...

That is such a wonderful idea. I am going to ask my SR as well.
