Any moms from Bakersfield? DEP Mom! any November 7th or 8th moms? thank you for welcoming me !

I am a proud Mommy of a 17 year old boy who leaves in Nov. to boot camp! I am new to all this and had a very hard time conforming to the thought of my boy leaving for a military career , but I have leaned on the Lord and am just looking for friends that have been were I am at, in my community. Even if your not from here and can offer advise or support "it will be very welcome" I wonder if they sell a "navy mom book for dummies" LOL because I would buy it !! LOL

This site is your "Navy Moms for Dummies". Poke around a bit and you will find a wealth of information. Many moms have been where you are now. My son breezed through boot camp, but he went in at age 21, and had been in DEP for 8 months. There were guys in his division ages 17 - 34, and they learned to function as one unit. You've got some time to adjust. That won't necessarily make it easier, but remember, boot camp is only 8 weeks. After that, you can be in communication frequently. You will be fine, and so will your son. They take good care of the recruits at Great Lakes.
