Any NW Moms out there... Seattle area?

Hello my newest family!  I was just wondering if there were any Moms on here from the Seattle area.  Our son left on 8/15 for boot camp and he just received the infamous box of belongings.  We have yet to receive our first letter with his address but we are aware of the waiting period. Since my husband (my son's Dad) has been in the Navy for more than 20 years we know what to expect when it comes to the basics.  Course we also understand that some things have changed.

I would love to start a group from this area where we can compare Airline prices and hotel costs.  Cause we all know how costly this can be these days.  If anyone out there is in this same group as my son, I would love to hear from you.  Sadly, I dont know when his group was actually formatted.  All I do know is he left 8/15 from Seattle headed to Great Lakes.

I hope everyone is finding ways to encourage each other and support one another.  I know with us it has been quite an adjustment.  We also have a daughter who is only 2 years younger than our boy who is really trying to function without her brother. (they are pretty close)

Take care everyone and I look forward to hearing from many of you!!  God bless!!! ~delta

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here.  Once you know your SR's PIR date, watch in Boot Camp Mom's for information on when the PIR group is formed or go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and click on the date.  Those would be the best groups for a discussion such as you mentioned and there may even be some already so be sure to check before adding a new one.

There is a group, WASHINGTON & OREGON, that may be of interest to you.

I'm a Washington Native born and raised! My son PIR'd in May of 2011, and we DROVE to Great Lakes. We do have an awesome group of moms/wives etc... at the link that lemonelephant referenced above. Thanks lemon...I have not yet learned how to link things.

Join the WA/OR group....and a BIG welcome to N4M's. Since you are a seasoned Navy wife, you will be a great reference for our other wives. :-)

We are planning a get together lunch on at. Sept. 8th at noon if you are interested. Where to meet is still up in the air. The Cheesecake Factory at Southcenter has been voted for by 2 of us. We would love to welcome you "in style"!!

Oh wow! I would love to come and meet y'all at the Cheesecake Factory.  Course, this is only if  there are no issues at work.  Could I bring my 16 year old daughter? She. too, could use some group therapy.  hahaha!  I will join the WA/OR group and see how that goes.

I was really hoping to have a letter today but I guess it is  still too soon.  Today makes1 week since our son arrived at Boot camp.  (ok,as a Navy wife I should know all of this but I still am hopeful!)

Keep me posted about the Sept 8th gathering.  Thanks again  Moms!!

You and your daughter are more than welcome. I will update you as/if I receive more info. I accepted your "friend" request. Thank you for asking, I meant to ask you earlier today and got busy.

You probably won't receive a letter for another 2 weeks. Sorry to have to tell you that news. SR's are not allowed to write until their second Sunday AFTER they are assigned to a division. I received my mail on Thursday's from Great Lakes, but I was living in South King County (Auburn)  at that time. Thursday's will probably be a safe bet.

My son left on 8/15 as well. We are south in the Bonney Lake area. I also have a 16 yo daughter that is missing her big brother. :)

If your daughter is on fB, she might check out https://www.facebook.com/pages/Proud-Sister-of-a-US-Navy-Sailor/145....  There used to be another group on there for teens, but it must have closed.
