Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Anyone attending graduation on Aug. 20th in Great Lakes? Advice needed for travel around town after!

My son is in div. 940. Anyone have a son or daughter in same div.? I am new to this. i just joined, today! This is really cool, to be able to chat with others who may be having similar feelings as I am. I was just viewing comments, last nite. I was up late, anxious to be able to make comments, but it took all day for me to be accepted as a member. I am glad to be here, and looking forward to the support, and hopefully continuing to give back to others, in the future. My hubby and I are in the process of getting tickets for the flight out to the graduation. We have no idea where to stay, etc. Also, do we need a rental car, or could we get around easily with public transportation? I appreciate any help you "seniors" may be able to give me! We plan to fly in the Thurs.before the graduation, and stay to spend time with our son, Saturday. We might be able to get hotel discount if Doubletree affiliate. My daughter works for them. I can't believe it is so close to graduation for him. I can't wait to talk to him about his experiences. I imagine he won't be quite the same boy he was when he left, just a few short months ago! Thanks for any ideas or info. anyone has! -Katydids

We went to my son's PIR a year ago. We drove because we just live in Michigan. Friday afternoon after PIR, we drove into the city - HUGE mistake. The traffic was so bad, it took us 3 hours to drive to downtown Chicago. If you want to go into Chicago, I'd suggest taking the Metra. Traffic issues just can't be predicted. Other than that, just have a great time when you go. That event was absolutely my proudest moment as a Mom. You will be amazed!
