Does anyone know if I, her mother, can stay at the hotels on base? If so, would it be a problem if my partner stayed with me? Him and I are not married.
My daughter is based in Everett right now, but we are going to meet in San Diego in Feb., where her friend is stationed. When she was in A school at Fort Lee, the base hotel told me that I had to have a military ID to stay at the hotel on base. Is that the case with all of the base hotels or does it depend on the base. Then, if that is the case, can I as a parent get a military ID. She is not married nor does she have children.
Just trying to save a few bucks. Thanks for any help!!!
Thank you so much for the link....have a wonderful day!
Something to keep in mind, if the hotel is actually inside a fence line (some are, some aren't), then your comings and goings will be limited to when your daughter or her friend are in the car with you, as you will need a military ID for that, because whether you are staying in housing on base or in a hotel on base, she will be "responsible" for you, And they will require you to be escorted (for lack of a better word) by her as you enter the base. (technically, you could leave without her, just not get back...)
We've gone through this several times, both staying in hotels and in housing, with my in-laws. It's not that hard or difficult, just something to be aware of :-)
Your sailor needs to call Pass and ID and ask about visitor pass rules for their base. There are such things as visitor passes to get you on and off base, but it varies a lot base by base, and according to security levels.
You can stay at the Navy Lodge if the sailor books the room. I don't know if the Gateway Suites on base will be open to you. Some bases, yes, some say no.
You cannot get a dependent ID unless your sailor provides 55% of your support. Dependent parents exist, but the paperwork is immense, and the financial situation is always scrutinized for fraud.
Even with a temp vehicle pass, many bases require you to still have an ID holder in the car with you. Having your daughter contact the Pass and ID office there to check is a very good idea.
