For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Another overwhelming day. My son left for boot camp today.It's not just him leaving for the Navy it's the life as I know it gone. There will be no more school activities,no making sure he is home at night or seeing him off for the day.The dinners at night the vacations as a family.And so much more.This is a chapter closed for my son and us.I know a new one opens but this is a hard one to turn the page quick. And for the first time ever I saw my husband really cry. I know with time I will adjust to this new way of life but ,My heart hurts so much.

Lisa Lou , I read your post and I'm realizing why I spend so much time on this site - because you mothers feel exactly how I feel.stay close to these mothers and continue to express how you feel , it will help ! My son has been gone for 16 days , one of the hardest thing I've ever faced. Hang in there and know we know how your feeling

Lisa Lou, I know how you feel my son has been gone since July 1st. It does get a little better as the days go by, but its also lonely at the house without him. His letters do help me a lot that way I know how he is doing. Hang in there and my thoughts & prayers are with you.

Lisa Lou, ditto on the crying. My son left Tuesday. I miss him dearly. I can't wait to get his first letter. I've actually started writing him daily since he left. Just a sentence or two to let him know little things that are going on in our little hometown. Almost like a small journal. It's nice to know your not alone. Thanks for telling your story.

Lisa Lou, My son was sworn in July 23 as well. How are you doing? I stalk the mailman, and leave my phone on all of the time. What div, is he in????

My son is in 312 ,I got another letter yesterday. Not so sure of him self .Missing family. As we go through our own ups and downs and how overwhelming they are for us and we are adults.Our children are going through the same thing but only no family to lean on. My heart is heavy today missing my son more than ever.
