Thanks for the info @lemonelephant. I am just so anxious. I would really like to know when the PIR is so I can start making reservations. Any suggestions on a hotel? I looked into the Sleep Inn since it is the closest. I am going to be flying in from Mississippi.

Ok, thank u so much LEMON ELEPHANT : ) I too am ready to start making travel plans for graduation !!! Not sure if he had to wait for others to arrive ??? I'll ask the minute he calls me !!!

Mychael's Mom, you are very welcome. Even his recruiter won't know unless his info is in the computer. You'll know from his PIR date if he had to wait on others or not. If it is the 27th he didn't have to wait and if it is the 3rd he did. I really think his PIR will be the 27th.

poodlelover, see Saving Money PIR Weekend and PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you plan your weekend once you get The Form Letter.

Hmm. I sort of like ELEPHANT LEMON. Gives me different visuals. Haha. Mychael' Mom, you are a delight. Please join all the groups the EL noted in her comment on the comment wall on your personal page. My sailor completed his commitment to the Navy in 2012. Like me, you'll you'll meet and will become great friends with the nicest people on this site.

Welcome to all new comers. You all are very lucky to have so many "veteran" moms helping you. Navy For Moms didn't exist when my son joined in 2006.

Last January, when my daughter arrived in one of Chicago's airports, she called, let me know it was snowing...she made it safely and that she would call when she arrived at Boot Camp in GLs. Well, once there, she called not once but three times!!! I thought the volume on my cell phone was turned up ---it wasn't!  Ugh! I felt so bad and cried knowing that I wouldn't hear from her for weeks and just so disappointed that I missed her call!  As I thought about her during this "quiet" time, I found myself -of all things!-  remembering the time she had been homesick while away at a-week-long summer camp years before---and now this! Totally different circumstances obviously! Thankfully, my work kept me busy. I tried to stay positive, and also offered up prayers for her strength and safety---the prayers helped tremendously!  When I heard from her a few weeks later, I was at work but I HAD to definitely take her call. It was soooo good to hear her voice and hear her in good spirits!  She felt that she was where she should be, she also shared that she met a girl from our area! -so they started out on common ground and, at times, would hang out together. What a testament to God's loving care! I encouraged my family to make sure they write her to encourage her, and to look out for her to calls, which she was very thankful for.
