Since our son joined the Navy, as a family, we decided to donate all the money we would have spent on Christmas gifts and bought supplies for the troops. I also sent out an e-mail asking friends and family for donations of things the troops really need. The outcome was amazing! We packed up three big boxes, included a letter, and sent them out. That feeling alone of giving back was far greater than any gift we could receive. I wish we would have done this long ago, but in this case, better late than never. God bless all who serve our great country and the families who support them!

How do you get names, address, etc to send boxes to?

Hi jenmack~ I went on Anysoldier.com and clicked on "Where to send" I chose to send packages to the Army troops in Afghanistan because they are far more needy at this point. You can pick any soldier from the list, then request the full mailing address. You just put in your email, and it will send you the soldiers address in your email soon as you click. Good luck. It was so rewarding for our family to know we gave back, if even just a little.

Does it give when the last day to send for Christmas?

I have a few friends who did it last year and they say to send it out by Thanksgiving for it to get there for Christmas. I imagine that you can still send out this week, but any later may not make it in time. I was told it takes about a month to get there. Remember to include a note, as they LOVE mail, and they usually send a "Thank You" back, which is neat to show everyone who donated. Good luck!

Awesome, thanks for what you and your family did. We made stockings and goodie bags for 15 sailors on the Truman (N4M's Holiday project). It was a powerful feeling. I will go to that you mentioned now and get something in the mail today. Thanks again, LaLa Ribbon Queen

I got mine sent out today. My post office told me today was the last day. The two boxes I sent out is to help 10 people. I am going to try to send two every month. My son will leave a month from today and I would appreciate it if he was sent something in the future too. Just trying to help out.
