Today is the 10th day since Tom went to BC. I went to write my nightly letter to him and found myself crying. Tom has always been my buffer and support when I had a bad day with his older sister (who is bi-polar, 21 and still lives at home since she can't find work) and today was really bad with her.
The started so good with me talking to Tom's girlfriend and working out a few beginning travel plans as she and I will be the only ones who can make it to his graduation. Then his sister got into a mood and it all went downhill and I realized I had to find a new way to deal because I don't even want to write him about her bad days. I want to keep all my letters to him as upbeat as possible so he doesn't worry at all about home and concentrates on himself and BC. It was just another hard sign that he really is gone, and it will be a long time till he is home again.
I find myself wishing I wasn't such a whiner and wondering when I became one. I really think it would be easier if I didn't have to deal with his sister at the same time I am missing him so much, but she won't even consider trying Job Corp where I think she would do really well and of course she has her dad supporting her decision so I get out voted.
today did make me realize one thing for sure, Tom is doing the best thing he could have ever chosen and his future is going to be awesome. I watched a show on Nat Geo tonight about the USS Ronald Regan and got so excited to think of MY SON out on something like that. He is going into Avionics Technician and I can imagine him on the flight deck working on the jets and helos. That is going to be a wonderful adventure for him. Even if he ends up on land there are so many places he can go. I married and started a family young and it makes me so happy to see him spend his young years living his life and amassing adventures.
I guess writing a blot diesel help. I have no one to talk to about all this because my family doesn't understand my feelings, but somehow being able to ramble them out here helps. I think I can write my letter now and be upbeat for my guy. Thank you to those who even bother to read this mess. I sure felt good getting it out.
