Hello Everyone,
I havent been on here in a while but my daughter will be leaving Monday for BC. I have so many mixed emotions right now but not displaying any in her presence I just keep smiling but inside my baby is leaving home. So I would like to know what to expect from all of you that have been through this stage...any advice and comments are much needed. What can i send her what can she take with her? I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks,
You may wish to join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January. You will meet others with loved ones leaving the same day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for.... I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there. The Page, Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit, will answer the questions you have about what you can send in letters. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created.
(Group names within this comment are clickable links.)
Keep in mind that boot camp is only 8 weeks. It may seem very long, however, after boot camp, your Sailor will be able to have computer and cell phone to maintain contact. If at all possible, attend her PIR. It will make you so very proud!
Hi there Plum121, your at the right place. I have found that the moms on this sight are great! As our time draws closer, 17 days and counting to boot camp, I'm trying not to miss a thing from all the lovely ladies that graciously provide us newbies with answers we seek. My daughter says she is so ready to go. Am I ready? Are we ever ready as moms?
"Are we ever ready as moms?" I would have to say that there is a small part (maybe for some a large part) of us who will forever hold on to the little boy/little girl we cherished so much. Even if the child is a responsible, competent, employed, homeowner, married, with children. Yes, we love to see the fully grown man/woman but overlaid is the image of that child. Reminds us of the easier times.
The Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will help you with the terms and abbreviations. (I update it frequently when someone asks about a term or abbreviation that isn't in there already and I just updated it to include a new Bluejacket.com page I just found.)
