Does anyone have the actual graduation date for division #042?

Do all the sailors get vacation time off after Dec. 29? What are the actual vacation days?

Have they earned any money to get home if the base is closed for the holidays?

Do sailors get some time off to be with their parents after PIR?

How do other divorce families handle graduation?

I know this was an issue during High School Graduation because we both wanted to take him out to  dinner afterwards and it puts our son in an awkward position to have to choose which parent to spend time with. Will there be enough time off for both parents?

For how many days do people usually need to book a hotel for to attend PIR? I would imagine 3 days, two nights, if traveling 2K miles.

Are sailors allowed to receive a gift in December, what kind?

The last time I saw him he said he couldn't take anything.

Go back to your post from Nov 30. There is a detailed reply posted by FireTeamLeaderWife with links to your PIR group and links to other groups or discussions to get further information.

I read it many times but I still don't have the exact date for division 042.

http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp indicates 12/28/2012 so join the group, PIR 12/28/2012 TG 7 - 8 Divisions (039 - 044, 906 & 907), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 041 and 042 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There is a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

Most of the new Sailors will take Leave during the Christmas stand down for the "A" Schools until 01/06/2013.  You will have to check with your SR on that.  The new Sailors must report to the "A" School before taking Leave.  Yes, if they take them they are Leave days (equivalent to vacation in civilian life) and will count against acrued Leave.  Sailors are allowed to go "in the hole" at this time.  Sailors earn 2.5 days of leave for each month served so they have 5 days earned at the end of BC and if they take more than that, they go "in the hole", but it is not an issue since the Sailor will earn additional Leave time while at "A" School since they can't take Leave again until after "A" School.

Yes, the recruits are being paid.  See When Will the Recruits be Paid? within the Boot Camp Moms group.

Yes, you will be able to spend some time with your new Sailor after PIR.  How much time you have will depend on where he is going for "A" School. See Liberty During PIR Weekend.

The best thing that divorced parents can do is put aside any hard feelings and get along for your Sailor. Some divide up the time (one set has lunch and part of the afternoon and the other set has late afternoon and dinner) and others stick together.  You will just have to decide what will work for you.  The amount of time depends on where he's going for "A" School.  Also if he's going to "A" School at GL, he may be taking Leave beginning the 29th.  If your ex got the form letter, then you will need to get the password for the vehicle/gate pass from him or write and ask your SR for it or arrive by shuttle or taxi and walk in.

Arrive the day before PIR and go to Sarge's Meet and Greet (go PIR 12/28/2012 SARGE'S MEET AND GREET) and maybe part of Ramada Inn's Meet and Greet (PIR 12/28/2012 Ramada Meet and Greet) and then plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday to have the most time with your Sailor if he is flying out to "A" School or leave sometime Saturday if his "A" School is at GL and he is taking Leave or leave late Sunday or on Monday if his "A" School is at GL and he is not taking leave.

Gifts will depend on where "A" School is because there are only a few gifts that can be taken back to the RTC, such as a watch, a religious medalion (silver in color and smaller than a dog tag), or a Bible.

What will your SR's rating (job) be?
