Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Facebook Groups for 10/18/13 and 10/11/13 PIR Dates
Hi: Most of you probably already know (but I didn't until the other day), but there are facebook groups you can join for your SR's PIR date.
The 10/18/13 group is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/539127432836305/ Then you just click on "join group" at the top and an administrator will approve you and you can start interacting with 10/18 moms.

It's hard to tell until you get the form letter. My SR's recruiter told us 10/4 or 10/11, since that would be 8 and 9 Fridays, but his is the 18th. Unfortunately there is no way to know until you get the form letter. Hoping and praying you get it tomorrow. The not knowing was killing me! Seems like they are trickling in to everyone, so hopefully tomorrow and Tuesday everyone will have received theirs.

Remember that OPSEC and PERSEC also apply to FB. Don't forget to keep posting in your PIR group on this site, believe it or not there are those that do not use FB.

Most definitely. I don't post my son's name, even on FB, I PM people. I will continue to use this site as well, I just wanted to share another avenue for others so they can be a part of both groups if they choose.
