For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Filing Taxes
Need some info about filing taxes for last year. My sailor was asking how it all works, told him I would ask. Ca is his home state, living in Groton Ct now.

he needs to find a tax office and take all his my pay will have his w2 tell he should know this they have a class in boot camp about or at lease they did a few years ago.

He can talk to one of the tax specialists on base and they can help him - for free. Also, military one source usually has a link to the HNR block software - again, for free, that he can use. But as Abby said, he needs to wait until he gets his tax forms and stuff first. Mypay (where he can log in to check on all his pay stuff) is saying the Navy should be posting the w2 forms on the 22nd I think it was.
Now, if he is fresh out of boot camp / was living at home most of the year, you can claim him, but then, for the months that he was not living at home, he will have to not claim himself at all. (We went through this last year with our son, since he left for boot camp in Oct, and we were supporting him until then - he graduated that June.).
