My son got a general duty waiver what does that mean?  He was supposed to be aircrew but medical problems have changed that, unfortunately.  Will he be able to pick something else or will they pick it for him?

General Duty is a waiver states that a person is unfit to work in their area of choice til further notice They may have him do lite duty in the avaition area til his status changes to "fit" for duty is what I learned As far as I remember one can pick another job or go unnassigned I dont think they pick for one

If he has been disqualified for aircrew, then he will meet with a classifier and will be offered the contracts that he is eligible for, much as happened at MEPS when he signed his first contract. Sometimes nothing is available other than one of the PACT programs and then he would be offered one of those. Your Sailor will be your best source for information related to his situation.
