My boyfriend and i are absolutly inseprable, that is until he left for bootcamp. He has been gone for about three weeks now and i miss him like crazy. I am so proud of him and yet that selfish part of me that wishes he hadnt left takes over often. The way i am dealing with him being away is a mix of prayer and keeping myself insanely busy. I balance my days with school, work and a new kitten. lol. I know it sounds cheesy but having my new kitten ,meekah, gives me something to care for now that i am no longer caring for my boyfriend. Though i wouldnt compare him to a kitten, it is strangly simalar :), My advice to anyone dealing with there partner being away is stay busy! the days will fly by if you keep yourself occupied. Ofcourse sometimes the sadness will kick in and the tears will come pouring, that is unavoidable. Allow yourself to have a good cry and then be strong and keep on living your life. It is not as if you will never see your loved one again. Another thing that helps me is to lay down in bed if possible, or atleast at the time you know your sailor will be going to sleep (ten oclock in illinois) just think you are both thinkinjg of eachother and even though you are apart in a way you are together in spirit. Corny i know but it helps me. That is about what i have learned so far but i am sure i will discover other ways to cope, and as i do i will blog and share.

Thank you for sharing this, I know it will help others who are alone. This site is so great for that. I think being alone and sick or in pain is the worst! Then it's hard to stay busy! Drinking tea, watching QVC, it's on live all night so it's real time broadcasting (somehow I can watch and not spend!) talking on the phone, reading the bible and praying.I think the kitten is a great idea too.

I created a journal for B when he was on deployment. He like reading it! Actually he makes me keep it out so when he has tough days and i'm at work. Think about it. Writing my feelings made me feel alot better.

That is such a sweet idea to keep a journal for him, and it is so precious that he reads it! It warms my heart.

I have been keeping a journal! i just talked to R yesterday and he said he loves it. He said it makes him feel included in my daily life and it really helped him feel that he was connected to the world outside of bootcamp
