Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Group Hug/Ship out date 1/15/13
Its been a rough couple of days, today being by far the hardest for me. That last heart wrenching hug and watching him walk down the hall.. :/ I've been a sobbing slobbering mess ever since.
So...to the moms and dads out there waiting for their phone call I want you to know I'm thinking of you too and I am comforted at least in seeing the group of men and women my son is leaving with. I saw they are like-minded and were bonding quickly. So thank you for that-its the peace of mind I needed at that time.

to Mkipka***I read your comment and HAD to comment!!! When my son went to MEPS the first time to do the initial testing he came home with a "goodie" bag filled with a water bottle, shirt, bible all sorts of things...to include the Proud Parent of a Sailor decal. I did the exact same thing you did! I told him I wasn't going to put it on my car until he left for basic training. I was hoping maybe he would change his mind too but knew he wouldn't *stubborn kid* =) So yesterday, day 2 of bc, I conceded and put the sticker on my car. It's bitter sweet. I think about him all of the time and just when I get my mind on something else and walk out to my car I see the sticker and get a little stab of emotion, but, I, WE, ARE***all of us. Proud Parents!!!
I hope that your weekend goes well, just think, every day we are getting closer to being able to communicate with our kids.

My son gave me the "Navy Mom" sticker when he first joined. He left for bootcamp on Feb 8th, and the sticker is already tearing. I am ordering another one off Ebay that will stay much longer.
I am SUPER excited. I heard from my son today. He is doing fine. He is a Florida boy never in the cold like Illinois. He sounded confident, in spite of having a cold.
Yes, today I am doing the snoopy dance :-)
