For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hair Cuts????
Do they make ALL the girls cut their hair, even if they have hair ties to keep it pulled back out of their face?
My daughters recruiter said that they changed this policy, not sure how honest our recruiter is!

I went through when the girls could still have long hair if they put it up to meet regulations. Not now! It must be cut short for boot camp. She can have it done beforehand, at a salon, short enough she won't need a trim in eight to ten weeks. Or she can let the barbers whack it straight off at boot camp. They don't take much time to get it done. Yes, the policy changes, but I haven't heard they're letting them have it long in boot camp recently. That would be all over the board if true.
Here is the part of the uniform regulations she needs to know about hair (I left out the parts about longer hair, she can grow it out after boot camp):
Appropriateness of a hairstyle shall also be judged by its appearance when headgear is worn. All headgear shall fit snugly and comfortably around the largest part of the head without distortion or excessive gaps. Hair shall not show from under the front of the brim of the combination hat, garrison, or command ball caps. Hairstyles which do not allow headgear to be worn in this manner, or which interfere with the proper wear of protective masks or equipment are prohibited.
When in uniform, the hair may touch, but not fall below a horizontal line level with the lower edge of the back of the collar. With jumper uniforms, hair may extend a maximum of 1-1/2 inches below the top of the jumper collar.

Yup, my daughter had to have her haircut. Her recruiter even came by the shop to make sure it was short enough, so that when she went to BC she wouldn't have to have it cut again.

It was a long time ago that I went through, but I had to have mine cut.
Once you're out of boot camp, you're able to grow it long again, but you have to keep it up and within regulations when you're in uniform.
