Hi My son left for Chicago on the 13th. still tears daily , its definitely rough time. He is happy to get his career started though. Just joined the site , this will help me too! Thanks to all.
My son left for Chicago on the 13th as well...glad to know I'm not the only one that has tears daily! He is going to be a Corpsman. He is ready to get his career going...me not so much!
My son also arrived last night. He called his girlfriend and she texted me on his arrival. This morning I watched the You Tube video of Navy Bootcamp, LOL. Just want to imagine what he's going through. He was so excited to leave and get started with his military career so I'm sure he's going to do just fine.
rfin18, my son is also going to be a corpsman. Hopefully they'll find each other and can establish a friendship. When I went through basic training (1981), the befriended a girl I was stationed with too. It was a relief to know someone at my first duty station.
Hello, my son is with yours! I agree that the phone call was serious. Although, this is difficult, we are not alone. I cannot wait for the first letter and graduating.

My daughter left yesterday for BC, Got her call at 00:48 this morning and hated that call because her voice was monotone flat and she read her scrip fast then hung up. I cried for 15 minutes before I could go back to sleep. God I miss her.
Look for "Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbies" on this web site there are lots of good information about what your child will go through in BC.
