Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello All,
My son shipped to boot camp on 4/4/13 and as I am the proudest mom ever, it is also the hardest thing I have ever done. As most of the time I am the "proud mom" I have come to realize that I have my down time as well. It is getting a little harder each day but hold my head up knowing I am a little closer each day to hearing from him or getting letters. I am still dreading the "box " day:( If any moms out there are a couple steps ahead of me in this venture or your son or daughter have left the same day .... please chime in!!!! I would love to hear from each one of you. I love to hear the stories and what is in store for me:)

It sounds like you are doing well; things will get better. Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April, to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. I see you have joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones); be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members). OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) has some information you you and some changes you will want to make and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups.

My son will be graduating on the 26th, but I do remember the box day, it came a lot sooner than I expected, no letter, just the clothes and shoes he was wearing and his cell phone. We received sporatic phone calls, and there is no predicting when the call will come in, my husband missed a call because he didn't recognize the number :( My son says they have about 6 hours of free time on Sundays, but usually spend it shining boots and preparing for the next day. You will get a packet of information on graduation, unfortunately no letter there either. My son says that they are only allowed to send out one letter a week, but he looks forward to every letter he can get, they are also allowed pictures. Hope time flies for all of you with kids just going to bootcamp. When you do hear from them, they sound tired and homesick, but it's sooooo good to hear their voices.
