My Son Victor has been in Boot Camp since June 23 and I have yet to receive a letter and/or a phone call.

He is my only child, my best friend, and my most favorite person in this world. We grew up together as I had him at 16 years of age. I miss him soooo much. I miss our Sunday talks when he tells me every thing he and his friends did that weekend (sometimes it was crazy talk but atleast we were talking).

He will go on to Pensacola Florida after his basic training in August, are any of your people going to Pensacola? I wish you all the best of luck on our Adventures/Journey.....cheers.

My son graduated boot camp on 4/23 and it was in the 3rd week I believe that I got my first phone call and letter. They only get to write on Sundays so try to expect letters on wed or thurs and I only got 3 letters and 3 phone calls. They don't get to send anything or recieve anything for the first 2 weeks. Remember he is very very busy learning all about the Navy and the Navy ways. I will tell you since my son moved over the the other side at GL that is where he is for A school, which he will start next week he just finished ATT class I have talked to my son just about everyday, either by phone, text, or email and he has grown up so much and loves the choice he has made. Good luck to your son and to you I second GO Navy!!!!

Our recruiter told us to expect a call in my son's 3rd week and should be getting any letters from him in that same time. He said the first two weeks they arent allowed to recieve or send any mail because they are getting into there training routine. My son called me when he arrived at boot in the great lakes at 12:17 am actually and had his 30sec to tell me he was safe and would call me back in about 3wks and loved me. Ive been writing everyday so when I do recieve his address I can send him lots of mail to read to encourage him along. Hang in there, you'll hear from him soon Im sure. I wish him all the best!!!

My daughter also left June 22nd and we have not gotten any mail from her either. We did get a call only cause she needed address and phone number information. She was really sick. Really hoping and praying everyday that she is doing well. My daughter also will be going to Pensacola. Not sure if this will help you but she did say she will be in Great Lakes until the 17th, so with any luck we will get some time with her.

I didn't get to read the whole comment you wrote at first before I sent my comment, I missed the part where your daughter fell ill. My son suffers Bronchiol issues too and he too was sick at first but he got better. Surprisingly he didn't worsen because usually it would get worse before it got better as a child. It's so hard to release them and allow them to grow but we are doing the right thing by freeing them....right? (smiling).

My daughter was really sick also but refused to go to doctor. Does not want to risk not graduating on time. Hope she gets better soon.

Said dentist tried to get her to go but she refused. I will write her today and see if she is doing any better. Thanks for that bit of advice.

I'm sure you miss your son, but he's following his dreams and goals. You can be proud of the great job you did raising him!

I just started to get letters from my daughter. She went in on 7/13 and she is graduates in 2 weeks. I got my first phone call too. When you see an 847 area code and payphone on your caller id, its your child. Hang in there you will hear something. And when you get that first letter is is like winning the lottery. I keep mine with me everyday and read over and over. Try and be patient.
