Many families are happy at the Navy Lodge, it's right by the base and the rate is $63 a night. Clean and consistent.

We stayed at the Quality Inn in Waukegan, free breakfast, nice clean room, just 2 miles from base. Very nice staff there. Congrats and have fun!

There isn't any way to avoid being searched. I would suggest just going early early in case you are searched. We were not searched for my oldest son's PIR in Jan 08 but were searched for my youngest son's last summer. They randomly pull cars aside to search. When we were in line we were watching them randomly point to cars and direct them to pull into a different part of the lot to search. There wasn't any method to it.

Here is another ComfortInn only 3.5 miles from the base phone# 1-847-623-1400. Here is one more Ramada this one is 4 miles from Base phone# 1-866-209-4045. all of these are located in Waukegan just north of Bootcamp. My sone Steven is graduating on June 11th. I wish you and your son all the best.
