When does the hurting get better? I'll be fine one minute and a basket case the next.
Litleturtledanielsmom: It is VERY hard in the beginning. I hope that you've gotten the first call of "I'm here". Then you'll receive the form letter with the ship division he's part of and scheduled PIR date. That letter will also be short and in all capital letters, because how the Navy wants them to write. In the meantime, write letters, so once you get the form letter you will have them ready to send. Do not send food or musical cards. Photos are nice to have. Put a number in the corner of the envelope that way he will know in which order to read them. It takes awhile to earn phone time, so an LD calling card will help. This is Boot Camp, so the group has to earn everything. I promise you it will get easier. My son PIR'd 11/4/11, and is in A School now.
Sorry fopr the mispelling.
Jeez, we used to be able to edit these before posting. Sorry for the misspelling , but I hope you get the gist of it.
God Bless all our babies. a safe and exciting journey for all Military..
Hang in there 7 weeks seems like a long time but it does fly by & the I'm a Sailor call made my day I was very happy .
I have left my sons room the way it was when he left (except cleaner now). But then I think to myself he won't ever be coming home to live ,that really bums me out .but I know in my heart of hearts it is for the best .
I have come to terms with all of this. This is what HE wants. I have gotten the 1st letter it made all the difference. I had to get it though my head and heart he has to make is own way in this world. God is with him I know. This also makes it easier. I still miss him like all get out but I am not falling apart when someone asked about him. That is what really got me. I couldn't think of him without being unhappy. I have always enjoyed watching him grow up in life. I wanted to enjoy this too. God gave me the peace to enjoy it!
It does get better. Mine left 2/7. I was on the roller coaster for five days until I received the box and form letter. I do keep my cell phone glued to me which is unusual.
