I may have become the woman I used to avoid! YIKES!
Let me explain. Read on, as this does have SOMETHING to do with N4M's!!
I was the woman who appreciated every point of view. I always had very strong personal beliefs, but I kept my opinions to myself. Strong faith ( I do believe in God and that there is a plan), strong family ties (Like being nice to certain family members when I don' t really like them!) a strong moral compass ("Do unto others" stuff...), perhaps generous to a fault and a strong political point of view. I was never the preacher, just a practicer......

I went back to college a few years ago and among sciences and math, I took and English class. I was amazed how the professors taught a point of view...a political point of view in English! We were not reading literary classics ( as I thought one would in a basic English 2 class) we were reading political essays! And we were debating their content. Actually the professor was teaching her political perspective as being RIGHT/ CORRECT. Because I was the same age as this professor and the students were the same age as my kids, I felt compelled to argue an alternate perspective. This may have been the beginning of my demise (and the start of my blood pressure issues). Having 2 kids ( at that time) in college, I should not have been surprised, as my kids were starting to absorb conflicting opinions. Conflicting to them, not me. I have encouraged them to question and develop their own opinions!

So, now my son is in the Navy.... and I have become the most outspoken, political, flag waving, country loving, red-white- and -blue, pain-in-the -neck! I am annoyed today because my Presidential candidate lawn signs have not arrived yet! I want every dollar that belongs with the Military to be used for the military! I want weapons systems updated and functioning well to protect my son and your sons and daughters! I have joined two "support our veterans" groups with financial donations. I am making Christmas bags for USS Eisenhower sailors and I am wearing my "Navy Mom" pin every day...even when it doesn't match the oufit ;). And I really am reading the Navy website scouring it for the latest Navy news. Not to mention that I am stalking my mailman ( poor fellow) looking for any shred of news from my new recruit! Certifiable? Perhaps!
I am officially my own worst nightmare.... and proud to be so!
Any more of me out there?

Anyone else wanna join?

This is perfectly normal...at least as far as I'm concerned. I was the same way when my only child (son) was in bc. I think it's safe to say that "certifiable" is a great term! I actually had our maillady honk if there was mail from RTC while my son was in bc. Call me crazy...but it worked!!

I am with you...I have always supported the military, but more so the older I have gotten and now that my son- who has wanted to do this for years became a part of it.....I am so proud of him and proud to be an American....:)

I agree whole heartedly!  Finally had a chance to checkback with the site.  I did receive my 'form' letter.  Was very excited to open it and found a fill in the blanks.  Oh well it was something and I completely recognized his handwriting.  I don't have the pin but I have a bracelet that I have not taken off that says 'keep my son safe'. So Boxinator if you are certifiable I am right there with you.

I am sorry you didn't know the letter was going to be a fill-in. These SR's are not allowed to be personal yet. They have been doing this for a long time, and I know they know when it is best for recruits to start communicationg. You don't sound certifiable, just very familiar! Hang in there.... like any of us have a choice!
