Trying to find out after my son graduates - can he leave the base for the weekend or does he have to check back in to the base at night?  I know he has to stay within a 50 mile radius.  Where do the rest of the family members not atttending graduation hang out?  Can they even come on base?

Renting a car is your best way to go as Sarge has a great price to pick you up but what about the rest of the weekend?  Renting is a lot cheaper now.  I live in GL and sometimes you can run into traffic just around this area so you'd be wasting money just idling and the traffic is a lot worse in the city if you choose to go there.  The winter so far has been very mild and not too much snow.  I'm sure by the time yours PIR's it should be fine weather wise.

What do the new graduates wear while on liberty?

Comment by lemonelephant on February 16, 2013 at 10:33pm

On the day of PIR, the new Sailor will wear his/her dress uniform. GL changes over to dress blues the first full week of October and to dress whites the first full week of May. The command determines the switch over date and it could change from that if the need arose. If you are blessed to have Liberty with your Sailor on Saturday and Sunday, s/he will be wearing his/her Navy Service Uniform (NSU) AKA Peanut butters.

This Graduation schedule is it for the graduation on March 22, 2013 too?

Comment by leigh on March 6, 2013 at 7:39pm

My SR is at Great Lakes, Il.  The graduation is March 22,2013, then she goes to a A school in Gulfgort, Mississippi.  will she have time after graduation to leave with the family?

Comment by lemonelephant on March 6, 2013 at 9:50pm

leigh, You will have from about 10:30 when Liberty is called until sometime that evening and then you can meet her at the airport. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more information and yes, the graduation schedule at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/grad_day.asp is the schedule for every PIR.

The above poster (she needs to change her Username) is most likely referring to http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/grad_day.asp to get the schedule for graduation.

I have some questions about graduation. 1. Does my 7 year old have to be on the list to attend graduation.

If he does not how can that be changed my son put him on the list. My will also have to change someone else. is that possible.
