I GOT MY LETTER!!!!! YAY!!
JB and others, I looked back and discovered that the TG's in the Adopt-A-Sailor program for Christmas have been the first two TG's in January and not the one for the week right after Christmas. My confusion is that they Adopt out the 2 TG's that follow Thanksgiving. You will have to wait to see if you get a form or not. I'm sorry for posting possibly incorrect info on that.
FeatheredNest, What will your SR's rating (job) be? Yes, everyone wishes someone from the TSC or RTC would post info on how the stand down is going to affect things.
bsb, What will your SR's rating (job) be?
shan38, you should receive your letter soon, hang in there. I know it seems a lifetime until it arrives and once it does it will lift your heart to be able to send your letters out. My son PIR is 12/28 as well and we are arriving at Great Lakes Wednesday night late. We plan to go to the Sardge's meet and greet and do hope that you will attend as well. My son has mentioned that he will need to stay an additional week after PIR before going to A school for additional clearances and such. He will be a Nuke, but I don't know and he was uncertain at which job he will be choosing. He will be attending the Goose Creek school. I will keep you updated when I hear anything else. No call or letter (besides the form letter) was received over the weekend. Thank you lemonelephant for your comment, I didn't know that jobs were called ratings and do love learning these things as we go along this journey with our SR's. :)
Lemon--my son is PAC. We know he has a 3 week seamanship school at GL, then unsure after that.
Thanks so much lemonelephant for the link and letting me know there is no family day, I'm not sure where I heard that there was... He is going to be a navy Corpsman and I know his "A" school will be in San Antonio Texas.. I'm Praying he will get to come home in between Graduation and leaving for the next phase...
shan38, you are very welcome. There are lots of groups for HM; you may want to join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio (clickable link). Maybe you can check back on there to see waht has happened in the past.
SCNavyMom, Yes we will be going to the meet and greet also, Thanks to Lemon- for the links :) There is so much to learn as we go and I very much appreciate all of you for the support!! We look forward to meeting everyone who will being attending that evening. Now I'm off to find the Corpsman "A" school group so I can hopefully get an idea of when or even if he gets to come home before he departs again..
bsb, it's Seaman-Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks (S-PACT) Program. It is also sometimes referred to as Seaman/Surface-PACT. You will find people who know about that in the group, Undesignated...What's Up With That? (clickable link). Yes, you are correct, after BC, he will go across the street to the TSC for 3-4 weeks of training in the Surface Common Core Course (not technically "A" School). He may get his orders for his first duty station before leaving BC, but that may be delayed due to the holidays.
SCNavyMom, I'm glad I could help.
